Weekend Getaway - Malacca

Last week, my parents were in town for my little sister's graduation and they spent a week accompanying me and the children while hubby was away for business trip. After hubby came back to Singapore on Friday,  we had a short getaway to Malacca the next day. Hubby drove there and it took around 3.5 hours including the immigration clearance. We arrived there around 2 pm and had late lunch at Mega Mall Malacca. Then we explored the Malacca heritage centre which including their famous landmarks, St Paul's ruins, Christ church and red bricks buildings. Tumpeng rice ( yellow rice )

I know this topic is a bit out of place, but I, myself was also curious why in most celebration, Indonesians love to serve Nasi Tumpeng as the main course. So here's the history behind that I copy paste from Wikipedia Tumpeng  is a cone-shaped rice dish with side dishes of vegetables and meat. Traditionally featured in the  slamatan  ceremony, the rice is made by using a cone-shaped woven bamboo container. The rice itself may be plain  steamed rice ,  uduk rice  (cooked with  coconut milk ), or  yellow rice  (uduk rice colored with kunyit ( turmeric )). The rice cone is erected in the tampah (rounded woven bamboo container), covered with a banana leaf, and surrounded by assorted Indonesian dishes.  The cone-shaped rice meant to mimics the holy mountain. The feast served as a thanksgiving for the abundance of harvest or any other blessings. Tumpeng is a symbol of gratitude. In modern days, tumpeng has different variation, it's no longer cone shaped rice, but they

Four Fors

Usually I never wrote Sunday homily message but today’s homily message from Fr Vinay keeps ringing in my head and this verse that I have listened it before in St Paul the apostle movie re-appeares again today so I decide to write this down as self reminder in the near future. Today’s gospels about Jesus, the carpenter son  who was being rejected by the villagers at his hometown and the Father asked us if we were in the same situation what would we do? On the other hand, the second reading was taken from the letter of st paul to Corinthians said  that God’s grace is sufficient enough and God’s power is made perfect in weaknesses meaning that we need to have faith in God that if we are in the tribulation, God's grace is sufficient enough for us to walk through that path and in those tribulation, weaknesses, we could see God's power to be revealed. In addition, the Father said there were FOUR FORS - FORget We need to forget our vengeance, revenge, our problems and look

We are not walking alone - Reflection of 10 years Wedding Anniversary

This is the last part of our Anniversary celebration, it was quite unexpected though from the original plan. My original plan was to have simple celebration with Family Builder B with tumpeng (yellow rice) and wanted to give them a surprise. But instead of I gave them surprise, they surprised us with a prank :P When everything was done according to the plan, last minutes we received the messages from different persons, one of them said that she would be late because of last minute teaching schedule, another whole family canceled their visit due to the wife's severe backache, another family said they would be very late due to something else, I was like Whattt ?? It couldn't be any better time than this.... I was so panicked, because I have ordered lots of food and we absolutely couldn't finish them off. I quickly messaged another group to come after their cell meeting done. As I was trying to calm down, taking positively what just happened and s

Anniversary Datexercise ( 6 July 2018)

Hubby was so nice, he took one day off to celebrate our anniversary just two of us without the kids. So he chose Friday and since the kids were going to school we had half day in the morning to spend it together. At first we wanted to explore Pulau Ubin, it's been a decade from the last time we went there as a couple but looking at time, it's a mission impossible. In the end we decided to go for exercise and brunch together and chose a new place which was Bishan - Ang Mo Kio Park. The park was not so big but quite serene. We met mostly senior citizens who exercised there. After that, we had brunch at Canopy Garden Restaurant and ordered beef cheeks egg benedicts. The beef cheeks were so tender and tasty. There's a hiccup though, hubby had some problem at his work just right before he knocked off the office yesterday therefore, today he still need to fix it here and there during our morning date. Even though it's not smooth sailing as we wanted to
