Midnite Movie Date - Crazy Rich Asians (Aug 25, 2018)

Last Saturday, we did Adrenaline junkies for the first time. Watching midnight movie and left our children at home alone. I know it's a bit crazy but if we never do it, we never know. Everything turns so well. We left at home around 11.15 and watched movie at 11.30 pm until 1.30am, we reached home almost 2 am and our boys were still sleeping soundly. For me, the movie was just like Asian movie with rich and not so rich couple, their struggling and challenges with each family's culture and mindset. However, it's good to promote Singapore to the world since they have many scenes in Singapore landmarks.

Couple Empowerment Program Session 1 : Good Marriage

After coming back from recent couple retreat, we decided to deepen our spiritual journey together with this CEP (Couple Empowerment Program). We attended the introductory session and were impressed how intelligent and deep the program is. A lot of new terms that we learnt and it's good for us to do a check list whether our marriage life has been in the right track or any aspects in our marriage that need to be polished. So we continued with first session about Good Marriage. We came a bit late after our second son's swimming lesson and after our kids had their dinner. I just summarise what we learned from this session and message that we received and hopefully it could transform our marriage to be better one. The session started with the Choice Theory. The Choice Theory states that " The only person whose behaviour we can control is our own " and that "almost all behaviour is chosen". Therefore if we are unhappy with our marriage, we should fo

Movie Date - Mamma Mia ! Here We Go Again (Aug 18, 2018)

We have watched first Mamma Mia ! when I was pregnant with my first born son, it's on year 2009 and I loved that movie so much and so when the sequel was shown, I told my hubby that we should watch it again. We planned to watch it in Indonesia when we had couple retreat but unfortunately they haven't shown  it yet so we had no choice to watch it in Singapore. It turned out that Mamma Mia 2 ! was much more better than the first one. I loved all the songs and the story line. It's like watching broadway show. Here's some songs that I loved and still love it until now

St Ignatius of Loyola - the Saints

THE LIFE OF ST IGNATIUS DE LOYOLA He was born in 1491 in Guipuzcoa, Spain. He was born to Spanish nobility. He lived the normal childhood and adolescence of Spanish nobility, wealthy and vain and entered the Spanish military in 1517. At this point of life, he has ambition to move to higher rank in military, serving as a courtier for Spanish kingdom, having family and owning a castle like the one he was raised in and living the privileged life of Spanish nobility. However God had greater plan for him. His life began to change in 1521 when in a cannonball greatly crippled him in battle and failed surgeries made his leg limb. He was bedridden for about a year and during that time he only had access to the book of Saint biographies and the Life of Christ. He was so frustrated and in desperation since his dream was dashed into pieces, however after reading those books he experienced a radical religious conversion which changed his outlook on life. After rehabilita

Ignatius de Loyola Movie

On Friday, we had movie screening in our church about Ignatius de Loyola. Although both of us studied in high school managed by Jesuit. I studied at Loyola college while hubby studied at Canisius College, I never read or interested in finding out about Our Patron Saints until weeks before during Sunday Mass, it was announced that there will be Ignatius de Loyola Movie screening. The synopsis : If you could hear the voice of God, would you want to keep it secret ? This is the story of a soldier, a man of vice and violence who in his attempt to turn to the light was forced to wrestle with his inner demons to the very brink of death. He struggled with depression and near-suicide, his trial before the inquisition and ultimate vindication and how he found about Spiritual Exercise that's still practiced by Jesuit order and layman until today. What I learn from this movie : 1. Pray for indifference Sometimes we love to pray for all good things to come to our life, asking

Put God First - Partner Second - Children Third (Couple Spiritual Fellowship 2018)

This was our living testimony how God tested us during our couple retreat. The day before our departure to Surabaya, our youngest child was not feeling well in the afternoon and it got worse in the evening and when we saw a doctor that night, he was diagnosed with HFMD. Our heart was suddenly heavy. We were torn whether to drop our retreat or to go ahead with the plan. On that night, we prayed to God asking for His mercy to heal our son and keep our family safe and healthy and we surrendered to Him. On the day of our departure, our youngest son was getting better event hough he's not fully recovered. We decided to go ahead with our retreat. During our journey, we always kept our children and our parents who took care of our children in prayer. But life never gives us sweet all the time, on Friday morning just before we went to our retreat place, we received not so good news that our second son was starting feeling not well but the good news our youngest son has rec

Marriage Sacrament as A Covenant

Marriage in the Catholic church is the  COVENANT between a man and a woman  as partnership in their whole life. God Himself is the author of marriage.  CCC ( Catechism of the Catholic Church) says: "The Church attaches great importance to Jesus' presence at the  W edding at Cana . This is the confirmation of the goodness of marriage and the proclamation that marriage will be a sign of Christ's presence. In his preaching Jesus taught the original meaning of the union of man and woman as the Creator willed it from the beginning permission given by Moses to divorce one's wife was a concession to the hardness of hearts.  T he matrimonial union of man and woman is indissoluble: God himself has determined it "what therefore God has joined together, let no man separate".  What is COVENANT ? Covenant is the heart of Christian marriage. Covenant in Hebrew word means "Cutting". The concept of sacrifice is the core of Covenant. Ano

God's purpose in Marriage

Basically there are FIVE "P" -  God's purposes in Marriage 1. Pro-life  This is the basic purpose why God call a man and a woman in Marriage union.  As stated in Gen 1 : 28 " Have many children so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. " 2. Pleasure in Relationship Marriage union is between one man and one woman and both of them should enjoy the joy in the marriage. Marriage life is not happily ever after story and there are always challenges in every stage of life but the question is how we could find the joy in marriage life despite all the challenges we face. 3. Passion of Love We are created to love each other because God is love. Love is the foundation of marriage life, love is not only about feeling. It's also about a choice and a commitment to endure and persevere in tribulation times. As stated in 1 Cor 13 : 4 - 8 "Love is patient and kind, it's not jealous or

Movie " CLICK "

Synopsis Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) seems to have it all but his wife, Donna (Kate Beckinsale), is increasingly frustrated by the amount of time he has to spend at work. Michael cannot find time to be at home until he meets an eccentric inventor (Christopher Walken) who gives him a universal remote that controls time. At first he happily skips the boring times until he realizes the remote is in control of his life and he learns to cherish all the precious moments with his family. Official Trailer What we learn from that movie 1. Family First, Work Second From that movie, the husband has wrong priority from the beginning. He's in the rat race to chase the promotion to be in the highest rank in the company. His noble excuse is he doesn't want his family to suffer and enjoy a happy life but in the end he lost more than what he gains Work is important, being responsible in the workplace is a good virtue but don't let work become our first priority be

Couple Spiritual Fellowship 2018 - Day 1

We gathered around 6.30 am at Sacred Heart Church with the rest of the couples and our bus left around 7am to Batu. The journey itself took almost 3 hours. There were 9 couples including us. We arrived almost 10 am at Golden Tulip Resort Batu. This was our dream came true. Yes, last year when we visited Batu with our kids, we only knew about this hotel when we were there and the hotel was still brand new and kids friendly and we wanted to stay in this hotel when we had a chance and voila, we had this opportunity to enjoy this luxurious hotel from this retreat. Since we didn't eat proper breakfast, we had snack and tea at the hotel while waiting for the team to be ready. Around 10.45am, we had opening games and it was fun. There were 5 couple games in total and we needed to complete all. Then we had lunch around 11.30am included in the program. Our session started around 12.30pm until late night. I would say this is the most relaxing retreat with lots of break
