Happy 1 year Anniversary

1 April marks my first year in ICS. It's a blessed journey.

There are some ups and downs, challenges and successes, happy and sad moments but one thing for sure that God walks with me all the time.

Flashback how I ended up here. Truth to be told, it's all by God's grace and providence. One year ago, I have planned to be a professional personal trainer and within 2 months, I already had 6 trainees. It seemed that everything was on track according to my plan, until one day I received fwd message that there's a company looking for office manager who could speak Bahasa and able to travel back and forth to Jakarta to manage two offices.

At that time, I didn't really plan to look for a full time job since I was really happy with my life, but God has different plan and His plan was always better than mine.

Long short story, I had an interview and within 2 weeks, I was accepted. I started my new journey as a working mom on 1st April, just few days away from Circuit Breaker due to Covid-19.

Since the beginning, I was working from home until now thus the transition period was smooth sailing. I am still able to exercise in the morning, do my work in the late morning until afternoon and had quality time with my children in the late afternoon until evening.

Working Environment

The working environment is good, as the company is a start up, there's no hard rules like corporate life. Everyone chips in and those senior management are down to earth and very responsive. They listen to the team. We are like a family instead of employer and employee relationship.

The job and roles

I am super happy because the job and roles are matching with my talents and experiences. Managing office is like managing household which I have been trained more than 10 years. My talents to organize event, design and support make my job becomes a part of my life.

My achievements

1. Booster Care Package

This was my first project that I did during Covid Circuit Breaker. It's my first challenge as most company stopped production during Covid-19, however I managed to create first hamper and send it to the staff.

2. Finding a new office

This was my second project that I did during Circuit breaker and Phase 1. It was challenging as some landlord limit the face to face visitation due to Government rules and regulation and the company had limited budget too. I visited more than 30 office units and met 5 different agents until we got one office which was according to our budget and expectations.

3. Christmas hamper

This was my third project to create a nice Christmas hamper for the team and bought a jacket from Patagonia, US was another challenge. Due to covid, they had a challenge in producing the jacket thus there's a delay. In the end, it's a happy ending, everyone received the Christmas hamper and jackets.

4. Website New Gen

As the company grown, we wanted to update our website to look more professional. I engaged an agency however it didn't turn up well. We engaged another web designer and it turned out much more better.

5. Team Bonding

Organizing event is my forte, thus I'm so happy that I have an opportunity to organize team bonding activity for my team mates.

I really grateful for this opportunity that God gave to me. I don't know until when God will put me here.

As long as I am here, I will do my best to do what God wants me to do and seeing the company blooming and successful is the proof that God blesses and always walk with us.

Dreams come true - Cappadocia (day 7)

This is the highlight of Cappadocia which is hot air balloon ride. As it depends a lot on the weather, we were lucky that we could fly to watch sunrise. We were picked up around 5.30am in the morning to Urgup area and arrived 20 mins later. They provided us with light breakfast while they lit up the balloon.  We started riding it around 6.20am and it's so breathtaking to see the Goreme area and hundreds of balloon joining us. The sunrise is around 7am and by 7.30am we already landed safely.  We had champagne celebration and received certificate too and returned back to our hotel for breakfast. Around 10am, we were picked up for Green Valley tour. Stopped by at Goreme Panorama and Pigeon valley for photo spots. After that, we went to Underground city where Anatolian people lived underground to survive from natural disaster and dangers. It's amazing how they build the houses and lived there for a long period of time. Then, we continued our tour to Selime Monastery and Cathedral ...

Reflection

It's been such a long time that I sit down, press a pause button and reflect back what has happened in my life, what things I should be grateful, what are the lesson learnt and what I should improve Things have gone so fast in my life and it's like unending cycle. It's been almost 2 months since I helmed the new project in the company I am working and it took half of my life. I felt like I had a new baby but not "literally baby", it's more responsibility as many lives are on stakes. I had no experience, no mentor and coach, no team per say, only one person who's not hundred percent fully committed in this project and on top of that, the company threw me in the deep sea that  I need to swim and survive. It reminded me back when I started my motherhood journey. With no knowledge, no experience, no mentor, no helpers and little money, we need to nurture the living baby and finally we survived. The first one was always the harder, but after the second and thir...

Dreams come true - Cappadocia (day 6)

It's time for another dream destination - Cappadocia. After arriving at Athens International Airport, we miscalculated the transit time. We only gave 1.5 hours in between without realising that we needed to change the airline and domestic route so we rushed out and checked in 25 minutes before the flight departed. Thanks God, we were still allowed for checking in. After settling in Turkish airlines, we were provided with warm baguette and drinks which could calm ourselves and our seat was next to emergency door so we got leg room. We arrived at Cappadocia airport which was very small and reminded me on my hometown's airport in the old days. Then we were picked up by airport transfer to our cave hotel - Panoramic cave hotel. The journey to the hotel was amazing, we saw many natural chimneys that we never saw before. Arriving in the hotel, we checked in to our pigeon nest room which was chimney suite and never stop took pictures of the room and the scenery surrounding. In the lat...
