We spent a full day in Assisi, starting our morning with a visit to the Basilica of San Francesco. The atmosphere was quiet and serene as we explored the basilica and spent some time in prayer.
After that, we strolled through the old town, stopping for gelato and pastries at a local pasticceria. We then continued to the Basilica of St Clare and visited the paternal home of St Francis.
For lunch, we dined at a local restaurant, where the food was exceptional—especially the truffle-infused pasta and veal. Fascinated by truffles, we later found a boutique shop specializing in truffle products. We enjoyed a tasting session and bought a few items as gifts and for ourselves.
In the afternoon, we visited the Basilica of St Mary of the Angels, where we spent quiet moments in reflection at the tomb of St Carlo Acutis.
Just before sunset, we climbed up to the Rocca, where we were rewarded with panoramic views of Assisi bathed in golden light.
In the evening, we attended a weekday Mass at the Cathedral of San Rufino, then stopped by the Christmas market at the piazza of the Basilica of St Clare before heading back to our apartment for a well-earned night’s rest.
