This is a must visit place when you travel to Harbin, Xuexiang Snow Town / Village.
Xuexiang is located around 500 km from Harbin and can be reached by shuttle bus in about 5–6 hours.
We booked a homestay in Xuexiang, and our host kindly helped us arrange the shuttle bus at an additional cost of RMB 80 per person, per trip.
We departed from our hotel in Harbin around 8:30 a.m. and arrived in Xuexiang at about 3:00 p.m. After checking in, we walked five minutes to the nearby snow park and paid RMB 100 per person for unlimited snow play.
Once we were satisfied, we strolled around as the lanterns were lit up—it was stunning at night. We even hired a local photographer to capture some pictures with the snow mushroom houses as a backdrop.
To warm up, we enjoyed a traditional hotpot, which was a bit more expensive than in the city centre, but absolutely worth it. We truly enjoyed our stay.
The next morning, temperatures dropped to –30°C, the coldest we had ever experienced. Thankfully, our winter wear kept us warm and comfortable without needing extra layers.
We played another round of snow tubing, paying RMB 30 per person for unlimited access, and then enjoyed some beef skewers and oden before taking the shuttle bus back to Harbin.
