Speak Lord, your servant is listening

During this time of isolation, I have sensed that God communicates in His own way. After He consoled and comforted me through my anxiety and helped me learn to trust Him, I received a valuable reminder today on how to hear His voice.

This morning, as I woke up and prayed, I felt overwhelmed by uncertainty regarding my next steps now that the house project is complete. Should I take some courses? Look for a new job? Start my own business? The multitude of choices seemed daunting.

After finishing my weight training, I did 30 minutes of low-impact cardio on the treadmill while listening to a sermon on YouTube. The sermon was titled "How to Hear God's Voice," which was particularly relevant to my struggles with hearing God's guidance amid distractions and noise.

Here are the key takeaways from the sermon:

  1. Cultivate a Relationship with God: Knowing God personally helps us recognize when He speaks to us.
  2. Ask and Be Prepared: God will answer our prayers, but His answers may differ from our expectations.
  3. God Speaks Through Many Channels: He can communicate through our hearts, dreams, experiences, nature, people, and ordinary moments.
  4. Seek Wisdom and Guidance: Ask for God's wisdom and the Holy Spirit's help to open our hearts and minds to His voice.
  5. Obey His Guidance: Sometimes, God’s direction may conflict with our desires, but we should follow it nonetheless.

Reflecting on these insights as I walked home from the gym, I felt God had three messages for me:

1. Be Grateful and Content

Embrace each moment and give thanks for:

    • The gift of life and good health.
    • The time to invest in meaningful activities.
    • The well-being of my family.
    • The faith that drives me to seek and rely on Him.
    • His providence.
    • The gift of friendship.

2. Transform Character and Motives
As the Bible teaches, my work motives have shifted over the past four years. What began as humble intentions became driven by a desire for power, fame, and recognition. I had placed myself above God and family, treating God as a means to personal success. In His wisdom, God removed these distractions not to humiliate me, but to realign my character and motives. I believe He desires a success that reflects His values, not worldly standards.

3. Be Still and Trust in the Lord
Enjoy each moment without anxiety about the future. We cannot predict the next moment, so we should focus on giving our best each day and trust in His plan, even when we cannot see or understand.

Jubilee Year - Year of Hope (2025)

Year of Hope: A Personal Reflection on 2025 The year 2025 has been declared a Jubilee Year, a  Year of Hope  by the Pope—a time for peace, joy, and prosperity. For many, entering a new year brings feelings of happiness and optimism. However, I find myself on a different path, starting the year with anxiety and uncertainty rather than joy and hope. For me, 2025 is a year of the unknown. It marks the first time in four years that I will not hold the title of a working mom. Transitioning from this identity feels daunting and unfamiliar. It is also the year I plan to embark on a new venture: starting a winter rental business. This endeavor excites me but is fraught with challenges. There are countless pieces of the puzzle yet to be solved, and I pray for wisdom and the support of "ordinary angels" to guide me through. This is also a pivotal year for our family. Two of our children will face major exams. While I know the journey matters more than the results, I hope they develop s...

A Burger Date

It feels like it's been ages to have a date night with hubby, thus before my parents going back to Indo we decided to have a couple date over burger as I have been craving with Hans I'm Gluck burger. We went there, enjoying the burger and companion of each other and talking about anything, something that we are used to have but no longer anymore after I took a new role in the company. Then, I accompanied him to shop at H&M before heading back home. It's one of the best burgers I ever had since I am in fasting the whole day for a week. The perk of fasting is I could appreciate the food and enjoy it.
