Self Reward - Mother's Day Gift

Since no one really planned anything for me this year, I decided to pamper myself instead 😊 At first, I wanted to go to JB alone by public bus, just to have a little “me time.” But when my husband found out, he decided to take WFH and accompany me. So I told him jokingly, “Today is not a couple date okay… it’s still my day. You just happen to be there.” 😆 We started the morning with dimsum breakfast while the car was getting its own pampering at a nearby car wash. After that, we watched “Devil Wears Prada 2” — honestly the kind of movie I would never get to watch with the whole family. The movie was interesting in a deeper way. It showed the toxic side of corporate life, the arrogance of bosses, but also reminded me that even strong and difficult people still need someone who understands them as a human being. One thing that stayed with me was this: Sometimes we work so hard and genuinely think we are doing the right thing, but if it doesn’t solve the biggest pain point of the person...

Life Lesson from "True Spirit" movie

Two weeks ago, our family watched  True Spirit  on  Netflix . The movie deeply resonated with me—not just as a story of courage, but as a reflection of the entrepreneurial journey. A Short Synopsis of  True Spirit The Mission Driven by a lifelong dream, 16-year-old  Jessica Watson  attempts to sail solo, non-stop, and unassisted around the globe. The Challenges Even before the journey begins, she faces intense public scrutiny after colliding with a cargo ship during a trial run. Once at sea, she endures massive storms, deep isolation, and dangerous equipment failures—including a terrifying knockdown that leaves her briefly unconscious. The Support The film highlights the important role of her family and her coach,  Ben Bryant , who helps guide her through both psychological and physical challenges from afar. The Outcome Despite critics questioning her maturity and ability, Jessica completes her 210-day journey and returns to Australia to a hero’s welco...

Journey to Bethlehem

Yesterday we watched this musical movie "Journey to Bethlehem" with the kids. We loved the story line, the songs, and some funny acts and even though we kinda know where it ends, during the show, we could visualise what's happening at that time and how Mary felt about it at least for me. Life lesson from this Movie especially the character of Mary 1. Breaking news She lead a simple and comfortable life in Nazareth and didn't have any expectations to be the chosen one, she agreed to be betrothed to Joseph as this was their culture for women to get married young. As she has planned to have life with Joseph, there's breaking news from heaven when Gabriel came out of the blue and told her the "good news" which I believe it may not be a "good news" from Mary at first. 2. Doubtful and questionable Eventhough in the bible, they portrayed Mary as obedient girl, but I could feel that she may understand the scriptures well about the prophecy and the comi...

Reinforcement !

As I have been pressed, purified, processed, transformed to be pure and have high value, God never leaves me alone. He sends His angel to accompany and help to journey together with me which is hubby. After going back from Indo, I was so tired, overwhelmed and wanna give up. I told him that I can't do it anymore, it's really heavy burden. My physical health was affected as well as my mental health and it's not worth it. He was on my side to cheer me up that the process will be ended soon, he believed that I will get a new opportunity soon that suit me well. He asked me not to give up yet and keep going and push a little bit more everyday. He consoled me by asking me out to watch movie "Meg 2" at Jurong Point and had snack after movie at McDonald. On Saturday, we had morning jog and had Thai food for lunch and Lok2 for late dinner at JB something that I've been craving for. We returned home after midnight because of the traffic jam, but I was happy able to enjo...

Movie Monday Date ( 11 Nov 2019)

As the world celebrate singles day, we are movie monday dating. We watched Joker as suggested by hubby at night after settling down the children. Many said it's good movie, but I found it so depressing watching it haha... Anyway, some reflections after watching movie 1. Nobody is born with bad characters 2. Bully is very dangerous and has detrimental effects 3. People may change from good to bad when they are always pushed and discouraged. Here's the short synopsis about Joker movie Forever alone in a crowd, failed comedian Arthur Fleck seeks connection as he walks the streets of Gotham City. Arthur wears two masks -- the one he paints for his day job as a clown, and the guise he projects in a futile attempt to feel like he's part of the world around him. Isolated, bullied and disregarded by society, Fleck begins a slow descent into madness as he transforms into the criminal mastermind known as the Joker.

Shazam movie

Last Saturday, we had this unplanned "no-bar" with moms and kiddos while daddies had a "bro's time". We watched Shazam, Superhero DC. I just followed the group to watch this movie without knowing what the story is all about. This is the synopsis of this movie : We all have a superhero inside of us - it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In 14 year old Billy Batson's case, all he needs to do is shout out one word to transform into the adult superhero Shazam. Still a kid at heart, Shazam reveals in the new version of himself by doing what any other teen would do - have fun while testing out his newfound powers.  But he'll need to master them quickly before the evil Dr. Sivana can get his hands on Shazam's magical abilities. The evils are 7 deadly sins which use people who are abused, hurt and hungry for worldly matters. In the end, Shazam wins the victory with the help of his foster family. It may seem like ju...

Today is the birthday of our youngest son, we celebrated his birthday in school and while waiting for his school finished, we seized the opportunity to watch the movie show "SEARCHING" Hubby has watched it in Korea while he had a business trip, but he didn't gave me any clue except that the movie was very good with unexpected ending and twists. So we decided to watch it together and turned out that it's really good movie. I love the twists and unexpected ending. Synopsis After his 16 year old daughter goes missing, a desperate father breaks into her laptop to look for clues to find her. Most of the scenes are from computer screen.

Midnite Movie Date - Crazy Rich Asians (Aug 25, 2018)

Last Saturday, we did Adrenaline junkies for the first time. Watching midnight movie and left our children at home alone. I know it's a bit crazy but if we never do it, we never know. Everything turns so well. We left at home around 11.15 and watched movie at 11.30 pm until 1.30am, we reached home almost 2 am and our boys were still sleeping soundly. For me, the movie was just like Asian movie with rich and not so rich couple, their struggling and challenges with each family's culture and mindset. However, it's good to promote Singapore to the world since they have many scenes in Singapore landmarks.

Movie Date - Mamma Mia ! Here We Go Again (Aug 18, 2018)

We have watched first Mamma Mia ! when I was pregnant with my first born son, it's on year 2009 and I loved that movie so much and so when the sequel was shown, I told my hubby that we should watch it again. We planned to watch it in Indonesia when we had couple retreat but unfortunately they haven't shown  it yet so we had no choice to watch it in Singapore. It turned out that Mamma Mia 2 ! was much more better than the first one. I loved all the songs and the story line. It's like watching broadway show. Here's some songs that I loved and still love it until now

Ignatius de Loyola Movie

On Friday, we had movie screening in our church about Ignatius de Loyola. Although both of us studied in high school managed by Jesuit. I studied at Loyola college while hubby studied at Canisius College, I never read or interested in finding out about Our Patron Saints until weeks before during Sunday Mass, it was announced that there will be Ignatius de Loyola Movie screening. The synopsis : If you could hear the voice of God, would you want to keep it secret ? This is the story of a soldier, a man of vice and violence who in his attempt to turn to the light was forced to wrestle with his inner demons to the very brink of death. He struggled with depression and near-suicide, his trial before the inquisition and ultimate vindication and how he found about Spiritual Exercise that's still practiced by Jesuit order and layman until today. What I learn from this movie : 1. Pray for indifference Sometimes we love to pray for all good things to come to our life, asking...

Movie " CLICK "

Synopsis Michael Newman (Adam Sandler) seems to have it all but his wife, Donna (Kate Beckinsale), is increasingly frustrated by the amount of time he has to spend at work. Michael cannot find time to be at home until he meets an eccentric inventor (Christopher Walken) who gives him a universal remote that controls time. At first he happily skips the boring times until he realizes the remote is in control of his life and he learns to cherish all the precious moments with his family. Official Trailer What we learn from that movie 1. Family First, Work Second From that movie, the husband has wrong priority from the beginning. He's in the rat race to chase the promotion to be in the highest rank in the company. His noble excuse is he doesn't want his family to suffer and enjoy a happy life but in the end he lost more than what he gains Work is important, being responsible in the workplace is a good virtue but don't let work become our first priority be...

Love is The Only Way - Paul the Apostle movie

Yesterday we watched Paul the apostle movie, rented from itunes. I am not sure if some events really happened in real life last time or it’s just to spice up the movie but there are many things that I took after watching that movie 1. God’s way is not our way, God’s time is not our time 2. Love is the only Way 3. God’s grace is sufficient enough 4. Nothing impossible for God, He can change the heart of man and use the man to be His instrument to spread the love

The Shack Movie

Few weeks ago, we as family watched this movie "The Shack" at our parish church. The movie was incredible good and I decided to write in this blog so that we could remember it when we need it someday The synopsis : After suffering a family tragedy, Mack Phillips spirals into a deep depression that causes him to question his innermost beliefs. Facing a crisis of faith, he receives a mysterious letter urging him to an abandoned shack in the Oregon wilderness. Despite his doubts, Mack journeys to the shack and encounters an enigmatic trio of strangers led by a woman named Papa. Through this meeting, Mack finds important truths that will transform his understanding of his tragedy and change his life forever. The message that mama received from this movie : 1. Our purpose of life is to be loved and to love We are created as God image which God's nature is Love, so each of us is called to love as God loves us. If we are fail to love or feel to be loved, there's ...

Valentine's Date Celebration 2018 (Feb 10, 2018)

Last Saturday we had monthly date and also celebrated Valentine's Day earlier. Originally we planned for Dinner and Movie until the day before he told me that he had Valentine's surprise gift which he owed it to me 10 years ago...proposal ring... So in the evening after we parked our car, we went to one of Jewellery shops to choose the proposal ring, since I didn't know about diamond and when we saw the price was crazy for small diamond ring around S$ 2,000 plus, I told him, it's okay, we looked for swarovski ring instead. After 10 years of marriage with children, we realised that S$ 2,000 plus can use for many things. We went to Takashimaya and saw this little shop called Diamondlite and the shop keeper told us it's diamond imitation but people can't tell unless they use the machine to do a test. And the price was much more cheaper and I could choose the big stone with quarter of the real diamond ring. In the end I chose that and was ver...
