Father and Mother's Love

I got this post from social media when one of my friends shared it in her timeline. I found it quite amusing at first and it's really what happens in our family. I always make sure that the children are eating well, healthy and not feeling hungry. On the other hand, my hubby will let the kids starve so during dinner time, they will eat a lot and appreciate the food because they have been hungry for more than 5 hours. As a mom, we have an instinct to protect and keep the children safe. However, my hubby will do opposite. He said that being hurt is not always bad idea because you'll learn something sometimes in the hard way. After thinking it more, I realise that isn't God like that ? He can be a father and mother in the same time, we don't know exactly his gender right. Sometimes God is like a mother, who will always protect and keep us safe but if we don't obey Him and want to do in our own, God will be like a father who will let us fall so that w...

When we fail as parents...

Today is Parents and Teacher's meeting for my eldest son. I was anticipating that he's in the middle range and didn't make any trouble in school. When I met his form teachers, the teachers said nice thing about him that he's people's person and could mix well with everybody even with those outcasts whom nobody want to befriend with. Then, this was the million dollar question when I asked the teacher about punishment from school which he needed to stay back after class especially during the exam. The teachers were caught in surprise and so did I. They told me that they never had such punishment and in fact all the children needed to leave the class right after the dismissal. I was burning mad, I felt cheated, disappointed and couldn't help to control myself. I asked him right after meeting the t...

Limited Freedom

I decided to write this from the yesterday incident which I learnt something about parenting 101 from my lifetime mentor and partner, my husband. Yesterday, when I picked my first son up from school, he was so excited to tell me about his exam results. As I have prayed that whatever results he received, I would gratefully accept it because he has done the best during the preparation, and we, as parents have done our best to prepare him so when he told me his results, I praised him. Reaching home, suddenly he told me that he would be going to nearby mall meeting his friends for pokemon games. I was astounded and reacting in impulse, I said to him No, because we already had a plan, his younger brother had music lesson and papa needed to use the car for church ministry. He started crying then he told me that he will call papa. Before he called his dad, I texted my husband to explain the situation and he actually did call his dad. I went inside the room to put the youngest son t...
