I love to give surprise in unexpected time so this time I am giving hubby Courtship anniversary gift which is personalised underwear with our picture on it. I saw the ads in IG and I thought it gonna be cute and bring smile to our relationship journey. And I bought this bag charm when I went to the mall last week, it's a yellow star which reminds me of his MSN status when we first connected with. There's no WA or facebook 16 years ago :P

Today marks 16 years since our official courting date. For some, the day "jadian" may not mean anything after they got married, however it always be in my mind and heart forever the day we officially became boyfriend - girlfriend. When I did spring cleaning in my storeroom, I read through some diaries I wrote and saw this. It looks cute when I read back about the dream of my life partner. I wished to have Angmoh hahaha and ended up with my hubby now. Even though physically is like 180 deg different, but his characters matched with what I wanted. This morning after exercise, I passed by the fruit store and saw very good deals fruits and they are sweet so I bought his favourite fruits - mangosteens, jambu, guava, mango. And when I came back home and browsed for music in spotify, there's podcast - Lovetalk by Tim and Chels, they talked about Tujuan pacaran (The purpose of courtship).  It's like a flashback what we have done before and to affirm that we were on the right ...

It was accidentally found. I even forgot about it but when I tried to find my old pictures for my new blog 30 Days Fit and Fab, I found this blog that I wrote even before I met him. It's all by faith that God gave me the best gift in my life until now. When I read it again, I was in tears and can't believe that it's me writing that blog haha... Anyway, I was so happy finding it again. Hopefully it can be an inspiration to our children and others how to find the true love ! In Chinese culture, wedding is considered a joining of two families, thus once the bride and groom agreed to get married, both families get involved. On the day of the betrothal, the gift is presented by the groom's family to the bride's family. This is a formal occasion where the two families officially acknowledge the marriage and give their blessings. In our case, the groom parents were giving a necklace symbolised that I has been considered part of his family. It was held after Chinese New Year on February 7th, 2008 and it was witnessed by his and my relatives. It was a joyful celebration for both families.

No... no... it was not a shot gun wedding, we had few reasons to hold our wedding as soon as possible. Firstly, my rented room contact was expired on May 2008 and it was troublesome to find and move to other rented room for a short period of time, therefore we prefer to stay together either renting or buying new house. Secondly, it was our principle that considered conservative which we can't live together before marriage therefore the best option was getting married officially. Lastly, for practical reason, we needed to match the date with his parents who would be attending his brother's graduation in Singapore to save trip as well as church' s available date therefore we finally decided  July 5th as our wedding date. The preparation was scared and excited us in the same time. With a lot of things to settle in very short time, careful planning and time management were essential. We were quite young at that time without much savings but we had so much faith haha that we had courage to walk further path into marriage life. We felt so much connections and comfortable being ourselves when we were together. And the best part was our parents had the same hometown therefore culture wise was not a big deal. Therefore, on Christmas Eve year 2007, I propped the question to him what our plan next year and whether we should get married. He told me honestly, he only had few savings but if I was okay with that, he didn't mind, It was a very simple and straight forward proposal, there were no ring or fancy decorations for that. Afterwards, we talked to our respective parents and told them that we were getting married. As we both were first child born, our parents were overjoyed hearing the good news. And we planned to have our wedding on year 2008.

We first met sometimes on October 2005 when we were introduced by our friend, Martinus. It was one of Prayer Group event, Love Night where we played music together for the first time. He played guitar and I played  keyboard. There was no first love at first sight though, in fact I even had a crush with his best friend. However, as time goes by, we often met during Prayer Group event or other church activity, our feeling developed. There was a time that it's kinda weird and it was fate that we were meant to be together. He stayed at Choa Chu Kang and took Red MRT Line and I stayed at Chinese Garden and took Green MRT Line but we somehow met together at the same carriage at Jurong East MRT Interchange. It happened a few times unexpectedly In short, we officially became a couple on May 10, 2006. It's was unusual proposal though and it's unplanned....
