Snake and Ladder

Last Saturday, I played the classic game Snake and Ladder with our youngest son. At first, I didn’t pay much attention, but then something caught my eye. As he approached the goal, he rolled the dice and landed on the mouth of a long snake, sending his piece nearly to the bottom. He murmured, “All my hard work is wasted.”

I reassured him, “It’s alright. Just keep going. You might land on a ladder and climb back up.” In the end, by sheer luck, he managed to climb a few ladders and defeated me.

Reflecting on our game, I realized it offered some important life lessons:

  1. Be Humble: Life is like Snake and Ladder, filled with ups and downs. We can find ourselves on top one moment and at the bottom the next due to unforeseen circumstances.

  2. Don’t Be Discouraged: Setbacks can feel disheartening, but remember that new opportunities can arise when you least expect them.

  3. Keep Going: No matter the situation, don’t stop. Progress may vary, but persistence is crucial. If you give up, you’ll never reach your destination.

  4. Do Your Best: We can control only a small part of our lives—focus on that, and trust that your efforts will bring results in time.

Playing games together not only creates fun memories but also imparts valuable life lessons.

Maintaining Marriage Fidelity

This article is from Focus Family and I thought it's good as self reminder for both of us so we don't take for granted of each other and commit to maintain marriage fidelity for the rest of our lives. Nobody wakes up one day and suddenly decides to begin an extramarital affair. Infidelity begins in the heart and mind. By the time a person physically commits adultery, he or she has been indulging for quite some time in progressively more intense mental and   emotional affairs . Likewise, marital fidelity begins long before marriage. It begins as a promise we make to ourselves to be a person of faithful character before marriage ever enters the picture. It is a promise we make to our future spouse when we get engaged, and it is a vow we make to our spouse when we get married. Marital fidelity is a daily commitment to seek the best for your spouse and family. Strengthening Marital Fidelity Marital fidelity is strengthened when you affirm your spouse, listen to your spouse, and se...
