Late Autumn in Osaka (13 - 15 December 2024)

Autumn seemed to arrive late in Japan, allowing us to catch the last glimpses of the season’s foliage at Osaka Castle. We took memorable photos with the vibrant ginkgo and maple trees, capturing the beauty of autumn. In Osaka, we explored several iconic landmarks. We visited Osaka Castle, strolled through Kuromon Market to enjoy fresh seafood and Kobe/Wagyu beef, and headed to Dotonbori to pose with the famous Glico Running Man. Of course, we couldn’t miss indulging in local street food like takoyaki and the delightful 10-yen pancakes. One of the highlights was dining at Gyukatsu Motomura, a favorite for everyone in our group. The delicious meal left us all thoroughly satisfied. At the end of our time in Osaka, we attended Sunday Mass at the Catholic Osaka Umeda Church. The church's modern minimalist design exuded simplicity, creating a serene and peaceful atmosphere during the service.

The Winter Adventure to Japan ( 13 - 25 Dec 2024)

This trip marked our final vacation of the year. We chose Japan not because it was planned, but because we found discounted tickets from Singapore to Osaka. Having already visited Osaka before, we decided to explore a new destination, and Hokkaido became the highlight of our journey. Our adventure began on December 13th with Peach Aviation, a low-cost carrier that had just launched its new international route from Singapore to Osaka on December 5th. The flight, scheduled for the odd hour of 2:15 AM, presented some challenges. Unfortunately, the departure was delayed by two hours, and turbulence during the flight made it hard to relax or rest. By the time we landed, we were sleep-deprived and exhausted. Upon arrival at Kansai International Airport's Terminal 2, we needed to transfer to Terminal 1 to catch a JR train to Osaka. The reserved seating was completely booked, so we ended up in the luggage coach for the 50-minute journey. After that, we walked another 15 minutes with our lu...

Beautifully made, Embracing active aging

Unlocking a new phase of aging: transitioning from myopia to progressive lenses. Thank you, Owndays, for the complimentary upgrade! Despite the increasing grey hairs, crow’s feet around my eyes, muscle loss, stubborn fat, and now progressive lenses, I remain deeply grateful. I’m still healthy, able to exercise, and move freely. Thank You, God, for blessing me with a loving husband, joyful children, and supportive parents and siblings who are still alive and healthy. Too often, we overlook life’s priceless blessings while chasing fame, power, or material possessions—things that are fleeting and can disappear in an instant. Even without immense riches, we can still enjoy a comfortable life, explore dream destinations, and find fulfillment. In many ways, we are wealthier than we realize, especially compared to those who may have everything but live with unhappiness or anxiety. Just a little reflection on gratitude.

Surrendering to God's wills : A Journey through Faith and Uncertainty

During this uncertain period, I’ve found strength in reflecting on special moments tied to significant dates. I wanted to write them down as a testament of faith, so I’ll remember them when the answers to my prayers unfold. 15 August :  The Feast of the Assumption of Mary This was the day I officially tendered my resignation, stepping into the unknown without any idea of where I would work next. 15 October :  The Feast of St. Teresa of Ávila – A teacher of prayer and the spiritual journey This marked my last day as a working mom, transitioning back to being a stay-at-home mom. 1 December :  First Sunday of Advent – Hope I began the Novena to Our Lady, seeking guidance and praying for my next work assignment, though still uncertain about what lay ahead. 9 December :  The Feast of the Immaculate Conception and Second Sunday of Advent – Peace On the final day of my novena, I messaged the CEO of a company that had promised to hire me. He replied, saying the strategic pla...

Lourdes Experience - 7 Dec 2024

"I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done unto me." This was the central message of the Lourdes Experience, the fifth event hosted in Singapore. I felt prompted by the Holy Spirit to attend after one of the PD KKIHS team members informed us she had extra tickets. I volunteered to take a ticket, planning to go with my husband. Unfortunately, he had to serve at Saturday Mass, so I went alone. I wasn’t sure why I felt such a strong pull to attend, but during the Eucharist celebration, I was deeply moved and found myself in tears. I cried again during Holy Communion and adoration, overwhelmed by the experience. At the time, my life felt like it was in the midst of storms and trials, particularly with my desire to return to work. Despite my prayers and efforts to search for opportunities, every door seemed to remain closed. I felt stuck and unsure of what to do next. During the Lourdes Experience, all I could do was cry out to God, feeling helpless yet fully reliant on His me...

Friendship - sisterhood

We first met this young lady in 2019 during our inaugural Holy Land pilgrimage trip. Although we lost touch afterward, we reconnected in 2020 at the celebration of our mutual friend's baptism. Since then, our friendship has grown, and we've shared many memorable moments together with our other mutual friends, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic. The restrictions brought us closer, as we frequently met to celebrate various occasions, from birthdays and graduations to Christmas, New Year’s, and even traveling together. Soon, she will be returning to Indonesia for good to embark on the next chapter of her life: getting married and settling down with her fiancé. We are truly grateful to have met her. Despite occasional misunderstandings, she has remained one of our closest friends. This week, we organized a farewell party with our other girlfriends and prayer meeting team to celebrate her and wish her well. We wish her nothing but the very best as she steps into this exciting n...

Annual Gala Dinner 45th Anniversary ME (24 Nov 2024)

This was our first time attending the Annual Gala Dinner with the ME community, and we’re so glad we came. We reconnected with familiar faces from our LC 471 (Love Circle), our mentors, the outreach service team, the Indonesian ME community, and parish priests. Seeing these couples, who have faithfully held hands through life’s ups and downs, inspired us to keep persevering and cherishing one another, no matter the challenges. We thank God for leading us to ME. By His grace, He has healed our wounds and restored our hearts.
