At first, we didn’t plan to return to Jakarta for Chinese New Year this year. Our second child had just started at a new school, and the attendance policy is quite strict, so we thought it would be best to stay in Singapore. However, when our close friends invited us to their baby gender reveal, we simply couldn’t say no. After checking the school schedule and speaking with his teacher, we decided to make it work. Just two weeks before Chinese New Year, we booked our tickets. The flights weren’t cheap, but they weren’t unreasonable either. In the end, every dollar was worth it. We spent three nights in Jakarta — short, but deeply meaningful. It was enough time to reconnect with friends, embrace our family, and celebrate Chinese New Year together. This year, we celebrated Valentine’s Day — fully sponsored by my hubby’s company (which we definitely didn’t mind at all… haha). It was actually their annual company dinner, and the management was kind enough to invite spouses. The best part? It happened to fall one day before Valentine’s Day. So instead of spending from our own pocket, we enjoyed a beautiful fine dining experience at an Italian restaurant — what a blessing. The food was absolutely scrumptious, every course thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. The atmosphere felt intimate and comfortable, especially since we had met most of them during last year’s family day. It didn’t feel formal or stiff — just warm conversations, good food, and a lovely evening together. Happy Valentine’s Day, my love. Our holiday had come to an end, and it was time to return to reality. We flew back with Air China, transiting through Beijing for two hours. The flight was smooth, and we landed safely in Singapore. Here’s a video recap of our 6-day, 5-night adventure in Harbin!

This is a must visit place when you travel to Harbin, Xuexiang Snow Town / Village. Xuexiang is located around 500 km from Harbin and can be reached by shuttle bus in about 5–6 hours. We booked a homestay in Xuexiang, and our host kindly helped us arrange the shuttle bus at an additional cost of RMB 80 per person, per trip. We departed from our hotel in Harbin around 8:30 a.m. and arrived in Xuexiang at about 3:00 p.m. After checking in, we walked five minutes to the nearby snow park and paid RMB 100 per person for unlimited snow play. Once we were satisfied, we strolled around as the lanterns were lit up—it was stunning at night. We even hired a local photographer to capture some pictures with the snow mushroom houses as a backdrop. To warm up, we enjoyed a traditional hotpot, which was a bit more expensive than in the city centre, but absolutely worth it. We truly enjoyed our stay.
