God's purpose in Marriage

Basically there are FIVE "P" -  God's purposes in Marriage

1. Pro-life
This is the basic purpose why God call a man and a woman in Marriage union.
As stated in Gen 1 : 28 " Have many children so that your descendants will live all over the earth and bring it under their control. "

2. Pleasure in Relationship
Marriage union is between one man and one woman and both of them should enjoy the joy in the marriage.
Marriage life is not happily ever after story and there are always challenges in every stage of life but the question is how we could find the joy in marriage life despite all the challenges we face.

3. Passion of Love
We are created to love each other because God is love. Love is the foundation of marriage life, love is not only about feeling. It's also about a choice and a commitment to endure and persevere in tribulation times.
As stated in 1 Cor 13 : 4 - 8
"Love is patient and kind, it's not jealous or conceited or proud, Love is not ill-mannered or selfish or irritable ; love does not keep a record of wrongs ; love is not happy with evil but is happy with truth. Love never gives up and its faith, hope and patience never fail. Love is eternal"

4. Pledge of Commitment
When we exchanged our wedding vow in front of altar and witnesses, we have committed to be with one another until death do us apart.
That's not just a promise but a covenant that we made with God.
It has a powerful obligation. Marriage is a serious matter. It's not just a children play. We need to commit to be true and stay side by side in good and bad times.

5. Power for Mission
Last but not least, we are called to be a living testimony about Love.
Marriage is not just about husband and wife and children. God uses us to be His instrument to evangelise others and let others see and understand about what Love is.

Maintaining Marriage Fidelity

This article is from Focus Family and I thought it's good as self reminder for both of us so we don't take for granted of each other and commit to maintain marriage fidelity for the rest of our lives. Nobody wakes up one day and suddenly decides to begin an extramarital affair. Infidelity begins in the heart and mind. By the time a person physically commits adultery, he or she has been indulging for quite some time in progressively more intense mental and   emotional affairs . Likewise, marital fidelity begins long before marriage. It begins as a promise we make to ourselves to be a person of faithful character before marriage ever enters the picture. It is a promise we make to our future spouse when we get engaged, and it is a vow we make to our spouse when we get married. Marital fidelity is a daily commitment to seek the best for your spouse and family. Strengthening Marital Fidelity Marital fidelity is strengthened when you affirm your spouse, listen to your spouse, and se...
