Modern False God

What I wrote here is not to judge anyone or/and put the blame to anything else, this is just my reflection and confession and hopefully it could help to open the spiritual blindness to who ever felt the same like me deep down in their heart. Matthew 6 : 24 said " You cannot serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other or else ; he will hold to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon " One fine day this verse was suddenly ringing in my mind. Indeed, by God's grace, He opened my spiritual blindness. I thought I already had spiritual maturity but actually I have not.  I was blinded by so called self - righteousness, self focus, the world evolved is only about me. For the past years, I've spent almost every seconds glued into social media. From the moment I woke up, the first thing that I looked for was my dear smartphone and scrolled down social media newsfeed or timeline. Social media became my wo...

Traditional Marriage

According to Catholic doctrine, marriage is a sacrament, or holy rite of passage that can only be received if both husband and wife are babtized in the Church. In many cases, bishops can grant a special dispensation for interfaith couples, which allows them to be married in a church by a priest. But for faithful Catholics who want their marriage to be fully recognized by the church, the options are either marrying a good Catholic girl or boy or convincing their partner to convert. If we're marrying someone who isn't Catholic, the Catholic spouse has to be open to having children and commit to raising them Catholic. Catholic church is the only religion that protects in the indissolubility of marriage. Pope Francis said, beside being very concerned about the attack on marriage in the Catholic church, we should be coming up with constructive ways to help have happy marriages that are tempted to break up and end in divorce. Everybody wants a happy marriage no matter ...

Couple Time - Attending the Wedding (Sep 1, 2018)

Last Saturday, we were invited by our church's friend to witness their marriage sacrament as well as wedding party. We attended the marriage sacrament in the morning at the church where our marriage sacrament took place 10 years ago. We came with our children. It was beautiful to witness the sacrament, the marriage vow which at that time we took for granted and by words only. But after 10 years journeying the marriage together, we realized that the vows we made 10 years ago were seem powerful words. The celebrant father also gave us beautiful homily about marriage. There were three components to build everlasting marriage. 1 . The planner : Jesus 2. The worker : Us 3. The materials : Unconditional Love Sometimes we love to take control the planner's role to head our marriage life which resulted in not so happy ending. We need to do our role as worker to work on our marriage life according to the planner's. Because He know what best for us and our marriage. ...

Couple Empowerment Program session 2 : Marriages are made in heaven but lived on earth

Last Friday, we attended second session of CEP. And they shared about Companionate marriage which is common these days especially in Singapore when both parents are working. It's pretty tough because the parents need to juggle time between work and family as well as controlling the emotion. They also talked about basic human needs which are SURVIVAL LOVE AND BELONGING POWER / RESPECT FREEDOM FUN And the difference between man and woman. The differences are always there and we should see as complimentary. There are no "Right" or "Wrong" and each has a role to undertake. In learning to appreciate how our spouse is different, we have to develop a sense of curiosity and admiration for our spouse. Humour helps to diffuse the tension and to stop our relationship from being too intense. Learning to change our behaviour and to take on a new perspective of our spouse requires the willingness to bend and to change. We encounter Christ in our marriage ...

Midnite Movie Date - Crazy Rich Asians (Aug 25, 2018)

Last Saturday, we did Adrenaline junkies for the first time. Watching midnight movie and left our children at home alone. I know it's a bit crazy but if we never do it, we never know. Everything turns so well. We left at home around 11.15 and watched movie at 11.30 pm until 1.30am, we reached home almost 2 am and our boys were still sleeping soundly. For me, the movie was just like Asian movie with rich and not so rich couple, their struggling and challenges with each family's culture and mindset. However, it's good to promote Singapore to the world since they have many scenes in Singapore landmarks.

Couple Empowerment Program Session 1 : Good Marriage

After coming back from recent couple retreat, we decided to deepen our spiritual journey together with this CEP (Couple Empowerment Program). We attended the introductory session and were impressed how intelligent and deep the program is. A lot of new terms that we learnt and it's good for us to do a check list whether our marriage life has been in the right track or any aspects in our marriage that need to be polished. So we continued with first session about Good Marriage. We came a bit late after our second son's swimming lesson and after our kids had their dinner. I just summarise what we learned from this session and message that we received and hopefully it could transform our marriage to be better one. The session started with the Choice Theory. The Choice Theory states that " The only person whose behaviour we can control is our own " and that "almost all behaviour is chosen". Therefore if we are unhappy with our marriage, we should fo...

Movie Date - Mamma Mia ! Here We Go Again (Aug 18, 2018)

We have watched first Mamma Mia ! when I was pregnant with my first born son, it's on year 2009 and I loved that movie so much and so when the sequel was shown, I told my hubby that we should watch it again. We planned to watch it in Indonesia when we had couple retreat but unfortunately they haven't shown  it yet so we had no choice to watch it in Singapore. It turned out that Mamma Mia 2 ! was much more better than the first one. I loved all the songs and the story line. It's like watching broadway show. Here's some songs that I loved and still love it until now
